Come and help a community prepare for fires before they occur.

About the Muster

In this one-day Muster event, you’ll be helping a local resident of Woodford, a community in the Blue Mountains, prepare their home for future bushfires. By helping to cut back uncontrolled growth and opening up an escape route, you’re playing a crucial role in reducing the risk of devastation before the next fire occurs.

What to expect

The muster involves:

  • An introduction to the Australian Resilience Corp
  • Safety induction by HFHA
  • Clearing of high fuel load weeds

What you need:

  • Boots or sturdy closed-in shoes. (No thongs or sandals)
  • A light rain jacket
  • Wide-brimmed hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Long pants
  • Food and drinks

Frequently asked questions

Q. What are the safety arrangements for the day?

Before you arrive on site there is an online safety induction course that you are required to complete. On the day there will be a safety induction onsite and trained staff to administer first aid.

Q. What do the activities involve?

Removal of saplings and weeds to secure a safe escape route for elderly resident. You will use tools like a wheel barrow, rake, and mattock.

Q. How fit do I need to be to participate?

Medium to Low fitness levels and groups will be split in to groups on the day.
